Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Parts Department Back Counter person performs a variety of customer service duties focusing and relating to the delivery of parts and accessories to company’s service technicians and service department that contribute to the efficient, safe and profitable operation of the dealership parts department. The Back-Counter person is responsible for counter parts sales, providing technicians the parts they need and providing excellent customer service. They will also help Retail and/or Front Counter customers when that is needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Assists technicians with parts and availability needed to perform repairs
- Issues parts to repair order
- Accepts warranty parts from technicians and Process Warranty Parts
- Process Shipments in and out of Warehouse for all types of orders
- Assists Service / Sales Department with any parts needed
- Maintains customer goodwill by interacting positively with customers
- Fulfills customer, technician, and mechanic’s requests
- Provides accurate price, availability, and quotations for customers, techs, and advisors
- Places orders for customers according to customer specifications
- Follows prescribed cash, credit, and check processing procedures of the dealership
- Pulls parts for customer, technician, and mechanic’s
- Updates emails to the Service Department as needed and uses Electronic Parts Requisition system
- Calls vendors to procure parts as needed
- Processes new returned parts, defects, and cores as required
- Assists in keeping parts department clean and orderly
- Records all sales and/or customer transactions
- Performs routine housekeeping tasks to maintain area clean
- When there isn’t a dedicated Shipping Clerk, Back Counter is responsible for receiving shipments, sending shipments, and using the systems thereof.
- Uses dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Conform to all safety rules and use of appropriate safety equipment.

Work Environment:
This job operates generally in an warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Office area in a warehouse style environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may be adjusted based on shop needs. Occasional overtime and/or Weekend work may be required.
Travel
Occasional travel for training and parts acquisition.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: (Please describe what is required for satisfactory job performance in each category.)
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of 2 years related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Preferred 2 years in Counter Sales experience in Class 3 to Class 8 Heavy Chassis Parts
