Machine Operator II - Grinder - Line 1 1st shift

Overview

Performs all activities related to the meat formulation and grinding/blending/mixing preparation of raw meat product for processing.



Responsibilities

  • Load grinder with raw meat
  • Scan, verify and log the raw meat information and ingredients
  • Load raw meat from hopper to the blender
  • Add ingredients per the established recipe requirements
  • Monitor the blend during the mixing process; conduct process checks to verify the blend consistency
  • Generate and apply labels to tubs with date, quantity, ingredients, etc. for lot traceability
  • Complete the required paperwork, including batch sheets, rework usage log, etc.
  • Assist with PT machines
  • Train backup personnel
  • Follows established equipment Lockout/Tagout procedures as required
  • Follow all safety rules and regulation per established company policies
  • Operate a forklift/palletjack to pull and move raw materials
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Employee Safety Responsibilities:

  • Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and horseplay
  • Use proper lifting techniques
  • Use mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift)
  • Use personal assistance (buddy)
  • Use handrails
  • Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Temperatures throughout plant average 50 degrees. Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the Company. Need to comply with Food Safety: GMP’S, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements.



Qualifications

  • Prefer High School Diploma/GED
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability t work rapidly and with a high degree of accuracy
  • Math Skills
  • Reliable
  • Self-driven
  • Minimal Supervision
  • Forklift/Palletjack Certification

  • Continuously required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently lifting above shoulders and also body bending.
  • Occasional reaching/working above shoulders, hand twisting, fine motor of the fingers, and driving a forklift/palletjack.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds, pull or push up to 300 pounds for a distance up to 6ft. Also carrying up to a distance of 10 feet.
  • Will be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants.
  • Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.
