Pike Medical Consultants is seeking a dependable, fast-paced, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This position works closely with providers and other clinical staff to keep patient care moving efficiently across our urgent care and primary care services, with the goal of exceeding patient expectations while helping providers stay on schedule and minimize gaps and delays between rooms.

The ideal candidate thrives under urgency, is comfortable juggling multiple patients and tasks at once, and takes initiative: using the EMR, protocols, and other resources available to find answers before bringing a question to the provider. Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, and medication information
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Perform EKGs, injections, point-of-care testing, and other clinical procedures within training and scope
- Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and other clinical or administrative tasks as directed, within training and delegated scope
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens
- Perform drug screens and other occupational health testing as trained
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with patient follow-up, results, and provider-directed clinical communication
- Recognize urgent or emergent patient situations and promptly notify the appropriate clinical provider

Pace, Ownership & Multitasking
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple patients and tasks simultaneously without sacrificing quality of care
- Help providers limit room time and minimize gaps between patients by keeping visits and workflows moving
- Use available systems, protocols, and reference materials to find answers independently before escalating routine questions to a provider
- Bring urgency and follow-through to daily tasks, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities without close supervision

Clinical & Operational Responsibilities
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms and clinical areas
- Monitor supplies and communicate inventory needs to the Lead Medical Assistant
- Follow proper procedures for medication storage, specimen handling, and infection control
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical work areas
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, and workplace safety requirements
- Properly dispose of sharps, biohazardous materials, and medical waste
- Assist with maintaining clinical equipment and promptly report equipment or supply concerns
- Provide coverage and support in other clinical areas when needed

Teamwork & Patient Service
- Work collaboratively with providers, Medical Assistants, front desk staff, and leadership
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, families, coworkers, and outside partners
- Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Respond professionally to difficult or upset patients and seek assistance when appropriate
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, urgency, and a willingness to assist the team
- Maintain Pike Medical Consultants' standard of Compassion, Devotion, and Respect in all interactions

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Phlebotomy training/certification required
- Previous experience in a medical office, urgent care, or primary care setting preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace, multitask, and manage competing priorities across multiple patients at once
- Comfortable using electronic medical records and other healthcare technology, and confident researching information independently before escalating to a provider
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
- Comfortable working in an environment with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious illnesses
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
