Same exceptional care, same dedicated teams—fully connected.Step into a career and join a team whose mission is to move lives forward every day!!About the RoleWe are looking for a compassionate, highly organized, and dedicated Activities Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive recreational program featuring both group and individual activities within the residential setting and the broader community.You will work closely with our clients, overseeing their individual recreational plans from initial assessment through monthly progress monitoring and discharge planning. If you are passionate about helping individuals build fulfilling routines, develop life skills, and enjoy active community living, we encourage you to apply!Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDirect Client Support & Care:
- Provide direct support (ranging from minimum to maximum assistance) to help clients succeed in daily living tasks, recreational activities, and educational or vocational goals outlined in their treatment plans.Support clients with residential and hygiene routines, meal planning and preparation, apartment upkeep, money management, transportation training, and pedestrian safety.Assist with physical, visual, and physical therapy exercises as prescribed.Demonstrate proficiency in essential direct care tasks, including medication administration, transfers, medical procedures, transportation, and job coaching.Support clients effectively during challenging situations, such as refusal of activities or medications.
- Implement leisure and recreational principles to foster social skill development, sober leisure lifestyles, special events, individual/group activities, and overnight trips.Collaborate closely with the Recreation Therapist to understand, monitor, and refine strategies and leisure activities tailored to each client's individual plan.Coordinate with direct care staff to ensure all individual recreation plans are properly scheduled and staffed.
- Perform initial recreational assessments, track monthly progress, and prepare discharge plans.Identify changes in clients’ behavioral, medical, emotional, cognitive, or physical condition, immediately alerting appropriate care team members.Communicate critical information clearly to team members and actively participate in team rounds.Review all operational updates, client strategies, staff communications, and meeting minutes prior to starting each shift.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Must have the ability to travel and/or operate a vehicle for up to 20% of the time spent working in this position.
