Position Summary

The Information Technology Manager is responsible for leading and advancing the organization’s overall technology strategy, operations, cybersecurity posture, and user support services. This role oversees IT staff, manages enterprise systems and vendor relationships, supports classroom (MPR) and event technology, and ensures reliable infrastructure, data governance, and regulatory compliance. The position serves as both a strategic leader and hands-on technical expert, driving operational efficiency, technology innovation, cybersecurity readiness, and cross-departmental collaboration to support the mission and long-term goals of Music Serving the Word.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead and manage an IT Specialists whose responsibilities include Monday.com integration and projects, system administration, Tier I support, and project implementation
  • Create and implement professional development opportunities for IT Specialists
  • Navigate competing priorities and make strategic decisions to further MSW goals
  • Execute existing operational and strategic plans and participate in the creation of future operational and strategic plans
  • Serve as lead project manager for all technology projects, successfully prioritizing project backlog and resource allocation
  • Work with various department leaders to plan and execute improved usage of existing technology and software
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through process analysis, interdepartmental collaboration, software implementation, process diagramming, and technical documentation
  • Continually evaluate industry best practices against internal systems, future needs, and budget realities

IT Support & End-User Services

  • Act as Tier II support for staff and guests experiencing issues with technology, conference technology, computers, software, permissions, account credentials, and multi-factor authentication
  • Manage internal service requests related to hardware, software, and permissions issues
  • Configure and deploy computer workstations, including domain enrollment, configuration of settings, and setup of peripherals
  • Onboard and offboard employees from an IT systems perspective
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Music Serving the Word software and hardware systems

Online Technology

  • Oversee Zoom, Teams, and Google platforms for remote course delivery and conferencing
  • Maintain and support classroom (MPR) and conference room technology for instructional delivery

Cybersecurity, Risk Management & Compliance

  • Oversee cybersecurity initiatives and overall security posture, including incident response and breach investigation
  • Train staff on cybersecurity awareness, phishing prevention, and password hygiene through training materials and phishing simulations
  • Regularly test and maintain backup systems, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity plans
  • Oversee privacy and data governance initiatives to ensure compliance with FERPA, CCPA, GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and industry standards
  • Ensure PCI compliance and train staff on secure credit card processing practices
  • Manage access control and serve as primary administrator for the organization’s Microsoft and Google environment

Infrastructure, Systems, & Technology Operations

  • Ensure all IT infrastructure components are properly maintained and refreshed according to lifecycle standards
  • Manage new hardware and software implementations and upgrades
  • Maintain inventory control and execute proactive equipment replacement plans
  • Manage hardware lifecycle processes, including secure disposal and recycling
  • Work with the MSP to monitor daily technology operations and support organizational goals
  • Collaborate with the MSP to proactively plan IT upgrades, cybersecurity improvements, and strategic initiatives
  • Regularly audit and test IT inventory, computers, and AV equipment

Audio/Visual & Event Technology

  • Oversee and proactively maintain office and classroom technology, including projectors, TVs, microphones, speakers, and screencasting systems
  • Oversee, maintain, and support AV, computer, lighting, and presentation systems for events in the MPR and conference rooms
  • Ensure technology systems for conferences, and ministry events operate effectively and reliably

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Professionally communicate with vendors regarding contracts, performance concerns, disputes, and relationship management
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and renewals

Budgeting & Strategic Planning

  • Develop and manage the ministry’s annual technology budget, with attention to implementation and cash flow management
  • Evaluate technology investments and resource allocation in alignment with organizational strategy and operational goals

Data Management & Documentation

  • Document software policies, procedures, data standards, workflows, and change management processes
  • Maintain databases, APIs, data visualization tools, regression analyses, and forecasting systems to support data-driven decision making
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable organizational reporting and analytics

Regulatory & Copyright Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with copyright laws related to displaying copyrighted materials during events
  • Maintain CCLI coverage and manage song usage reporting requirements
Requirements:

Required Experience/Skills

  • Demonstrate a high degree of institutional loyalty and the capability of protecting the confidentiality of sensitive matters related to the institution
  • Firm grasp of IT operational best practices
  • Strong understanding of Mac and Windows OS
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to pay attention to very fine details
  • Experience leading and executing large-scale IT projects
  • Previous project management experience
  • Previous experience managing equipment lifecycle
  • Previous experience managing vendor lifecycle
  • Previous experience with LMSs, CRMs, and SISs
  • 5 years of working IT experience
  • 1-2 years of managing and leading employees
  • Excellent technical skills, including mastery of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bookings, SharePoint, etc.), proficient-level web capabilities (HTML, CSS, WordPress, etc.), and an aptitude for learning and teaching new technology
  • Working knowledge of identity access management best practices
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity best practices, including principle of least access privilege, AI risk, and conditional access policies
  • Previous experiencing designing, implementing, and maintaining various APIs and automations using Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier, and/or Parsey
  • Both strategic planning and tactical execution skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent planning, record-keeping, and documentation
  • Excellent customer service skills and dispositions
  • A desire to serve
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems/security/network, system administration, database, etc.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred.
