Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commercial Partnerships Manager based in Germany.
This is a senior commercial partnerships role focused on turning strategic relationships into measurable pipeline, revenue, and business growth across Europe.
You will own a portfolio of acquirers, banks, alternative payment providers, and fraud and risk partners from relationship development through commercial execution.
The role combines partner management, lead generation, co-selling, joint go-to-market initiatives, and direct sales to strategic partners.
You will work closely with sales, product, legal, finance, and other commercial teams to unlock opportunities and convert them into signed business.
Success will be measured through tangible commercial outcomes, including sourced pipeline, deals unlocked, revenue generated, and partnership expansion.
You will operate with significant autonomy in a fast-moving environment where identifying opportunities and turning them into action is central to the role.
The position offers broad exposure to the European payments ecosystem and the opportunity to influence both commercial strategy and product direction.
Own end-to-end commercial relationships with a defined portfolio of strategic European partners, acting as the primary commercial point of contact.
Build and maintain joint account plans covering target accounts, named opportunities, commercial objectives, engagement cadence, and shared priorities.
Monitor partnership performance through commercial indicators such as live transaction volume, sourced pipeline, revenue share, and active opportunities, taking action when partnerships underperform.
Generate qualified leads through partner networks by engaging their merchant bases and commercial teams against defined quarterly targets.
Run joint pipeline sessions with partner sales teams to identify merchants and opportunities where the platform can unlock additional value.
Establish referral and co-selling mechanisms, including incentive structures, lead-routing processes, and clear commercial responsibilities.
Design and execute joint go-to-market initiatives, including co-marketing campaigns, industry events, and account-based campaigns targeting specific prospects.
Collaborate closely with internal sales teams to ensure partner-generated opportunities progress effectively from qualification through close.
Identify and develop opportunities where strategic partners themselves become customers, including acquiring banks, wallets, fintechs, and other payment providers.
Manage the full commercial cycle for partner-led customer opportunities, from qualification and solution development through negotiation and contract signature.
Negotiate partnership agreements, revenue-sharing structures, and commercial terms in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
Expand existing partnerships into additional markets, products, and business lines.
Bring commercial and market requirements back to Product teams to help inform product priorities and roadmap decisions.
Provide market intelligence on competitive dynamics, partner capabilities, and developments across the European payments landscape.
Represent the organization at relevant industry events and convert market presence and relationships into qualified commercial opportunities.
Lead quarterly business reviews and joint planning sessions focused on measurable pipeline, revenue, and partnership commitments.
5+ years of proven experience in partnerships, business development, or senior commercial roles within payments, fintech, financial services, or a closely related industry.
Demonstrated track record of carrying and achieving measurable commercial targets, with evidence such as pipeline generated, deals closed, or revenue share delivered.
Experience selling directly to payment providers, banks, or financial institutions, rather than exclusively working through them as distribution partners.
Proven ability to independently manage strategic relationships with acquirers, payment processors, alternative payment methods, banks, or fraud and risk providers.
Experience negotiating commercially with senior and C-level stakeholders.
Deep knowledge of the European payments market, including local acquiring ecosystems and relevant industry standards.
Strong understanding of the payments value chain, including acquiring, issuing, card and scheme networks, and alternative payment methods.
Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify opportunities, structure an approach, and convert opportunities into signed agreements with limited supervision.
Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to build trusted relationships while maintaining a clear focus on measurable commercial outcomes.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple strategic partnerships and commercial opportunities simultaneously.
Data-driven mindset with the ability to define, monitor, analyze, and communicate partnership KPIs.
Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Finance, Sales, and other commercial teams.
High level of autonomy, adaptability, and resilience in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
Willingness to represent the organization externally at industry events and build a strong network across the European payments ecosystem.
Competitive compensation package.
Fully remote working arrangement with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
One-time home office allowance to help create a suitable remote workspace.
Work equipment provided.
Stock options.
Health plan available wherever you are.
Flexible days off.
Opportunity to work with strategic partners across the European payments and fintech ecosystem.
Significant autonomy and ownership over a portfolio of commercial partnerships.
Cross-functional exposure to Sales, Product, Legal, Finance, and commercial strategy.
Opportunity to directly influence pipeline generation, revenue growth, partnership strategy, and product direction.
International and remote-first working environment.
