Summary:
Provides prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls.
Essential Functions:
• Performs duties within all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Cover front desk for breaks, performing duties while at the front desk; i.e. reservations, check in, and check out.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Respond to all incoming telephone calls within the number of rings designated by the property’s guidelines while using proper salutation and closing.
• Route callers to correctly.
• Use proper phone etiquette.
• Record and relay messages accurately, completely and legibly.
• Provide callers with accurate information on hotel facilities and services.
• Monitor telephone system problems and maintain log.
• Document all guest complaints or problems. Notify appropriate department/team member to resolve the situation.
• Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with oncoming team members.
• Operates and maintains office equipment, including but not limited to: computer, programmable telephone system, programmable fax and multi-use photocopier.
• Provides a high standard of professionalism and guest service.
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):
• Must be at least 18 years or older.
• Must be able to complete job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
• Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language.
• Ability to prioritize and organize.
• Ability to remain calm and problem solve various issues with good judgment.
• Ability to work cohesively with team members.
• Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency in windows-based programs and knowledge to operate general office equipment, software and databases.
• Ability to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trends.
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• General knowledge of the area including hotel locations and attractions.
• Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.
• Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming permit.
• Ability to work various shifts including evenings, holidays, weekends, and overtime.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
• Manual finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
• Must be able to frequently sit for prolonged period of times.
• Must be able to occasionally stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to frequently bend, squat and reach.
• Ability to be given verbal and written instruction and apply the instruction accurately.
• Sufficient visual acuity to write, recognize printed materials, computer screen, and notice non-verbal behavior.
• Speech and hearing ability to project voice to small and large audiences, carry on radio/telephone conversations, hear and grasp verbal communications and equipment prompts.
• Frequently exposed to tobacco smoke, fumes or airborne particles.
