Responsibilities:

• Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist in conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments.

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

• Provide hands-on assistance and instruction to patients during therapeutic activities, exercises, and ADLs (activities of daily living).

• Implement therapeutic interventions prescribed by the Occupational Therapist, including adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.

• Educate patients and caregivers on safety, proper techniques, and home exercise programs.

• Document treatment sessions and progress notes accurately and in compliance with regulations.

• Communicate effectively with the Occupational Therapist, healthcare team, and family members to ensure continuity of care.

• Monitor patient responses to treatment, reporting concerns and assisting in treatment modifications as needed.

• Support patients and caregivers in accessing community resources to maximize independence.

• Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and compliance with licensure requirements and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate’s degree required).

• Current Virginia state licensure or eligibility as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in home health or rehabilitation.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and families.

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques.

• Ability to follow treatment plans and exercise protocols under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.

• Commitment to professional growth and adherence to ethical standards of practice.
