About This Position


Apply your public safety knowledge and grow your leadership skills as the Beaverton Police Department’s next Police Records Supervisor. Beaverton Police Department has an opening for a Police Records Supervisor to provide supervision and leadership to the 14-person Records Division and assist with program planning, project management, and budgeting.

This is a great growth opportunity for someone with experience and expertise in law enforcement records who is interested in taking on supervisory responsibilities and growing in the field. In addition to providing direct supervision and oversight to Police Records Specialists, the Records Supervisor will have the opportunity to dig into projects ranging from data analysis to policy development.
This is a full-time, exempt, Management 2 (M2) position. There is one vacancy.

Operational oversight
  • Schedule employees to ensure 24/7 coverage, authorize overtime, and approve time off.
  • Supervise daily operations in the Police Record section.
  • Develop, review, and administer section work plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Set performance standards and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ensure excellent customer service to the Beaverton community, as well as to other internal customers and partner agencies.
Employee development and performance
  • Hire employees.
  • Provide basic job training, safety instruction, and technical assistance to employees.
  • Evaluate broader section training needs and implement programs.
  • Provide developmental training and performance coaching.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer improvement plans.
  • Manage employee grievances and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure a workplace culture of respect, courtesy, and inclusion.
Project management and administration
  • Authorize payments to contractors and consultants.
  • Assist in budget preparation, and monitor expenditures throughout the year.
  • Process expungement orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct LEDS testing/certification for new Police Officers.
  • Disseminate information to staff, attorneys, courts, and the public.

Minimum qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, and
  • Five years of administrative support experience in an office environment or police records, including
  • One year in a lead or supervisory role; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing and special requirements
  • Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check, including Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints.
  • Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Within 30 days of hire, successful candidates will be required to receive Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) and CJIS certification.

Wage range: $6,036.55 - $8,089.59 Monthly
Starting rate will be determined depending on relevant work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience to the position within the posted wage range.
