About This Position
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position
PRIMARY DUTY: The Data Analyst designs, executes, and documents processes to retrieve, cleanse, load, transform, aggregate, and report data to satisfy user data needs and facilitate completion of federal, state, and other compliance reporting and to support institutional strategic planning. In addition, the analyst performs basic statistical analysis and report writing, designs, and administers surveys. Also serves as the Assessment Office operational back-up as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs and executes data selections to provide accurate and on-time fulfillment of data collections and strategic planning support, including term and annual statistical reports and annual Common Data Set files; prepares reports and visuals; documents processes
- Creates/updates/maintains survey designs, administers survey schedule, monitors response progress, addresses administration issues, prepares data for analysis to support institutional effectiveness and assessment survey projects
- Designs and executes processes to provide accurate and on-time data collection and display of the Northwest dashboard/scorecard system; fulfills various external marketing and research surveys and data requests
- Utilizes recommended templates, standards, and methodologies in data collection and reporting
- Participates in professional development activities as available and as appropriate
- Serves on internal/external committees as assigned
- Develops and nurtures positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Northwest in all activities
- Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to functioning as operational backup for the Assessment Office
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics or related field
Experience: One year of relational database query and report design or equivalent course work
Skills: Familiarity with relational database design including multi-table query design and report design; familiarity with common database interface applications (i.e. SQL, Microsoft Access, Tableau, or PowerBI); familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with Workday is desired; ability to think critically; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work independently and as a dependable team member
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in a typical office setting with the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch break; Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required, remote work is possible as approved by supervisor
