Job Description

At Ryczek Eye Associates a Sight360 company, we are building the region's premier destination for comprehensive vision care. We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.

Candidates will be asked to participate in an onsite skills assessment prior to offer.

Compensation commensurate with experience.

The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting and recording patient medical history
  • Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.
  • Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) (Goldmann required)
  • Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLA
  • Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function)
  • Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement)
  • Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testing
  • Participating in light cleaning of the facility
  • Maintaining a sanitized environment
  • Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography
  • Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.
  • Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patients
  • Assisting with Lasers or minor procedures

Qualifications:

  • Required: Minimal of one year in Ophthalmology
  • Preferred: Certification through JCAHPO and/or Associates Degree

Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to perform manifest refraction is required
  • Ability to perform Goldmann tonometry is preferred
  • Ability to effectively multitask
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
