Position Summary
It is responsible for and assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll. Maintains knowledge related to the daily operations in the department. Maintains positive working relationships with staff and customers in light of constant deadlines and challenges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:
1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2. Processes the biweekly payroll.
3. Creates and submits GL files after the payroll is posted.
4. Processes manual checks and sends the positive pay file to the bank.
5. Downloads the check file and tax file and sends it to ADP.
6. Participate in educational programs or activities to maintain current level of knowledge or expertise.
7. Is supportive of hospital initiatives and projects.
8. Assists Payroll Manager in preparation of quarterly tax reports and yearly tax reports as required, including W-2s
Manage and reconcile Mass Mutual employee loans by debiting the hospital’s account and applying to the correct accounts.
9. Assist with employee ADP accounts by providing new access or lost account access
10. Complete employee verifications and letters needed for outside entities.
11. Ensure all Payroll and Human Resource information is kept confidential
12. Manage employee tax status based on initial W-4 withholdings and updates/corrections.
13. Report all new employees in payroll systems and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance to remain in compliance with NYS regulations.
14. Independently resolves payroll inquiries through analysis and computation and process weekly payroll and withholdings for hospital staff.
15. Inter-face directly with various County agencies to resolve garnishments and child support orders.
16. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
ï‚· High School diploma required.
ï‚· Associate degree in Business Administration preferred.
ï‚· Prior healthcare experience preferred.
ï‚· Payroll processing experience required.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
ï‚· May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed on the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
