Fire Academy at City of Mesquite (NV) – Mesquite, Nevada

2026 Fire Academy Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our 2026 Fire Academy. The academy will run from January 9, 2026, through May 15, 2026, with classes scheduled on Friday evenings from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The tuition fee is $3,000 per student. Upon successful completion of the state examination, students will receive Nevada Firefighter I and HAZMAT Awareness and Operations certifications.

We are excited to learn more about you and to support your journey toward becoming a firefighter. Please review the following instructions carefully for details regarding the application packet and selection process.

City of Mesquite Application

Please complete this application in its entirety and return it no later than October 26, 2025.

Authorization to Release Information

Applicants will be required to complete an Authorization to Release Information form and have it properly notarized. This form authorizes the City to conduct a background check. Instructions and the form will be provided to you during the application process.

Physical Examination

Applicants selected to move forward in the process will be required to complete a medical physical using the City's designated form. This exam is similar to a CDL physical and may be conducted by most doctors and clinics. The physical must be completed no later than December 15, 2025. Because many providers schedule appointments several weeks in advance, you are encouraged to make arrangements as early as possible if you plan to use your personal physician.

• Valid Driver's License
• GED or High School Diploma (Can be in Class of 2026)

The selection process begins with your application. If at any time you become ineligible, we will notify you, and you will not need to complete any other steps.

Interviews will be conducted the week of November 3 - November 7, 2025. These interviews will be scheduled individually by a Fire Department representative through a phone call.

We will notify all those who are selected on or by November 13, 2025.

Payment-$3,000 Must be paid in full by January 8, 2026. There will be no refunds after that date.
