Position Description:

Position Summary:


Support the management team to ensure that all sales, merchandising, cash-handling, donation acceptance, processing, pricing, and customer service processes run smoothly and efficiently while providing an exceptional experience for volunteers, donors, customers and staff in a safe and clean environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:
Store Operations & Customer Service
  • Open/close store in absence of management.
  • Oversee front-of-store operations, cash handling, and customer service.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces.
  • Ensure consistent pricing and effective signage to drive sales.
  • Assist in implementing markdown systems used to ensure adequate inventory turn.
  • Work collaboratively with the management team and staff to maintain a positive, supportive and mission focused work culture.

Inventory & Donations:
  • Support donation intake, inventory management, and markdown processes.
  • Assist with merchandise transfers and monthly/year-end inventory reporting.
  • In coordination with the Store Manager, support in-store and special events such as sales, classes, donation drives, recycling events, orientations, and training.
  • Communicate donation guidelines clearly to donors.

Volunteer & Staff Supervision:
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.
  • Supervise hourly staff when managers are absent.
  • Foster a positive, mission-driven work culture.
  • Provide input, document, and address comments and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assume responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Oversee and maintain daily and weekly volunteer assignments while providing training, supervision and evaluation of store volunteers in a positive and affirming manner.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation of incidents and accidents.

Administrative & Events Support:

  • Produce signage and support special events (sales, donation drives, etc.).
  • Participate in POS system operations and reporting.
  • Assist in staff development and communication by contributing supporting content for weekly staff meetings.
  • Help cultivate donor relationships with individuals and businesses.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Retail, warehouse, and inventory experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (training provided).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and changing projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Valid drivers license with a good driving record.
  • Certifications for Forklift, First Aid and CPR (provided by HFH).
  • Commitment to Habitat for Humanitys mission.
