Description

Ophthalmic/Optometric Technician

Location: Falls Church, Fairfax & Alexandria, VA (yes, all three - we like to keep you on your toes)

Schedule: 8-hour shift between 7AM - 6PM, Monday - Friday (occasional overtime may be required)

Are you passionate about learning Ophthalmology? Do you find the words "corneal topography" oddly satisfying to say out loud? If you answered yes to both questions, congratulations - you may be exactly the eye-care hero we've been looking for. At Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Associates, we deliver compassionate eye care services that bring comfort, clearer vision, and the occasional happy dance when patients see just how sharp the world can look.

What You Will Actually Be Doing

  • Conduct patient histories, visual acuity screenings, and assist with exams and procedures, including operating diagnostic equipment like visual fields, OCTs, corneal topography, and A-scan ultrasounds.
  • Support ophthalmologists during exams, handle patient interactions (including brief effects of pupil dilation), and manage pediatric patients with patience and energy.
  • Maintain exam rooms and equipment, manage records and prescriptions, and handle patient calls to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Travel between offices in Falls Church, Fairfax, and Alexandria, staying organized and familiar with local amenities.
  • Any other assignments that may be necessary for patient care.

To succeed as an Ophthalmic Technician, you will need a high school diploma (or equivalent), a strong commitment to compassionate care and learning. Experience in optometry or ophthalmology is helpful but not required - we will train the right technician who is eager to learn and help.

Why Work With Us?

We're a team that genuinely cares — about our patients, about each other, and about doing great work every single day. You'll be supported, challenged, and surrounded by colleagues who take eye care seriously but don't take themselves too seriously.

Also, you'll never run out of vision puns. Trust us, it's a real perk.

Benefits Include

  • Medical and dental insurance (vision? No need—our doctors got you covered there too!)
  • 401(K) with company contribution (employee contribution is totally optional!)
  • Paid time off (because even superheroes need a break)
  • Paid professional development after 6 months (level up your skills without the side quests)
  • Supportive team environment (where everyone’s your coworker and cheerleader at the same time)

And so many more!

Apply in 5 minutes and hear from us in 48 hours. Your next meaningful career move starts here.
