Job Overview:
This position is with Opportunity Project, a department part of Childrens Specialized Hospital. We are a Clubhouse model that works with Adults with brain injuries. This position will assist our program in ensuring funding for all our members through insurance authorizations, self-pay, or vouchers through DVRS/TBI Fund. Persons served are referred to as “Members” not Patients. The Member (Patient) Access Specialist, accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes
- Proficiency in computer skills including experience with electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, Epic
- Strong communication skills
Preferred:
- Member (Patient) Access experience
- Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care
- The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and promote member (patient) satisfaction
- Customer service orientated background,
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent data entry and typing ability
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift, 9:00am-2:00pm (flexible with hours)
- Part-Time, 20-30 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for performing registration and admissions to the program by obtaining pertinent demographic information
- Collecting insurance information and performing insurance authorizations in order to financially clear hospital accounts
- Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
- Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
- Works closely and professionally with day program and therapy staff to foster a team environment
- Participate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside the member (patient) access department
