Youth Ministry Manager — Redeemer Brooklyn
Position: Youth Ministry Manager
Band: 5
Hours: Part-time (15–20 hours/week); includes weekends, and some before/after school meetings
Rate: $25.00 – $30.00 / hour
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position SummaryRedeemer Brooklyn is seeking a self-starter and innovative leader to build our Youth Ministry from the ground up. This individual will be responsible for pioneering a relational community where middle and high school students (grades 6–12) are seen, heard, and empowered to take ownership of their faith in Jesus. This is an entrepreneurial role for a candidate who can create new systems, recruit a founding volunteer team, and design engaging gospel-centered programming for the youth of Brooklyn.
Core Responsibilities1. Ministry Pioneering & Innovation- Build from the Ground Up: Design and execute a strategic roadmap to launch and grow the Brooklyn Youth Ministry.
- Program Creation: Develop highly engaging, theologically sound large and small group experiences tailored to the unique culture of Brooklyn youth.
- Outreach: Create and implement an innovative outreach plan to connect with uninvolved and unchurched youth in the community.
- Relational Ministry: Foster authentic, discipling relationships by meeting students one-on-one and in small groups.
- Teaching: Provide gospel-oriented teaching and develop lesson plans for weekly meetings and Bible studies.
- Family Partnership: Walk alongside parents/guardians, providing resources and pastoral care to partner in the spiritual nurturing of their children.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, screen, and train a dedicated team of volunteers, ensuring adherence to Child Protection Policies.
- Leadership Development: Provide ongoing training and community-building opportunities for the volunteer team.
- Logistics: Manage space requests, catering, and supplies for all youth events and Sunday activities.
- Communications: Develop the youth ministry calendar and communication efforts to keep families and the congregation informed.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure all programming follows church policies regarding safety and security.
Qualifications
- Character: A positive Christian role model with a contagious love for God and a heart for Brooklyn/NYC.
- Theology: Committed to the theology and traditions of the Reformed faith and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
- Education: Four-year undergraduate degree required; graduate work in theology or counseling preferred.
- Experience: Proven ability to build trust with youth and experience in an urban ministry context.
- Soft Skills: Must be a self-starter with high emotional maturity and the ability to adapt to change during unexpected situations.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Google Workplace and Microsoft Office; experience with Slack or Asana is a plus.
