Job Description:

The Philosophy Department at Assumption College seeks to hire one or two part-time adjunct instructors for Fall 2026 to staff added sections of our first two courses. These courses are capped at 22 students and have classical primary texts as their focus. Class meetings run from Monday, August 31 to Wednesday, December 9, with finals held through December 16. Class meeting times are currently flexible. Adjuncts are welcomed as important contributors to the department and are provided with office space, email, voicemail, learning management system access (Brightspace), and other resources needed for quality teaching. Successful candidates may expect the opportunity to teach additional courses in subsequent semesters.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Sitting, standing, walking, and bending are required of this position. Use of a computer keyboard and computer screen for periods of time with close vision and the ability to adjust visual focus plus manual dexterity are required.

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Philosophy or a related field. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered.
