Job Description

Ascension DePaul Services of New Orleans operates several Federally Qualified Health Centers in the Greater New Orleans area. ADS is dedicated to improving the health of communities and continues a long-standing tradition of health ministry. The organization is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and review of financial statements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public Accounting Experience strongly preferred
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Experience in Healthcare industry preferred
  • Accounting Degree
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and analyze monthly financials and clinical stats for presentation to management and the board in Excel and PowerPoint formats.
  • Prepare analytical analysis and forecasts as needed at the request of management.
  • Review JE's and reconciliations related to Cash, Inventory, Prepaid, Fixed Assets, A/P, Accruals, and misc.
  • Prepare JE's and Reconciliations related to A/R, Allowances, Grants, and misc.
  • Account for and track Grant funds and Restricted Donations received to ensure prompt reimbursement as well as accurate financial reporting.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll submission for accuracy as well as associated JE's.
  • Assist Auditors in assembling requested information for various audits.
  • Work with outside service provider to provide necessary data to complete the 990 submission
  • Assist controller in preparation of budget.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual physical inventory.
  • Perform accounting and clerical functions to support supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Work constructively with other departments to resolve issues and problems
  • Exceptional organizational skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize work independently
  • Must have the ability to work effectively independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Must have strong computer skills, including expert proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications
