The Opportunity: The Registered Nurse: Substance Use and Addiction is responsible for providing a tailored blend of health care services within the context of an individual who has acute or chronic substance use, intoxication, or withdrawal in keeping with the individual’s lifestyle, family, and community.

  • Work at full scope of practice as currently required by the CRNBC for example, including initiation of IV therapies, medical treatments and code management
  • Responsible for the overall care provided to clients in the acute phase of withdrawal as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Establish evidence-informed, trauma-informed approaches for transitions between community, acute care and primary health care services and supports, especially for those with acute and chronic substance use disorders, acute intoxication, and acute withdrawal.
  • Provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members with drug and alcohol dependency that are consistent with the family’s values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture

What You Will Bring to The Role:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) -Provincial Opioid Addictions Treatment Support Program (POATSP) for RN/RPN prescribing Opioid Agonist Therapy, or willing to obtain
  • Current CPR (level C) certification

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $44.56 to $57.71 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
