Job Summary
A Facilities Technician II is responsible for performing semi-routine maintenance and repair tasks with limited supervision to maintain the functionality and safety of the facility’s infrastructure and equipment. This role applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assignments, while recognizing when guidance or escalation is needed. The Facilities Technician II works with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems, occasionally adapting from standard practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Performing semi-routine repairs and maintenance tasks related to carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, structural components, and equipment, generally following established procedures.
- Performing HVAC maintenance and basic troubleshooting, with occasional deviation from standard practices as necessary.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and standards.
- Maintaining accurate logs and records of maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and repairs, with minimal reminders.
- Collaborating with other departments, contractors, or vendors to address moderately difficult issues or complete specialized tasks under direction.
- Recognizing the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice and seeking input when resolving problems.
Education / Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Trade school or vocational training in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred.
Job Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Solid knowledge of company policies and procedures sufficient to complete semi-routine maintenance tasks with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems sufficient to independently perform semi-routine repairs, troubleshoot basic issues, and recognize when to escalate more complex problems.
- Typically requires 1–2 years of related experience in facilities maintenance or a similar field, applying acquired skills and knowledge of company policies and procedures to complete semi-routine tasks.
