Position Information
Develop, administer and supervise the management of a Park division, plan and organize the work of landscape, asset and facility management. Manage landscapes and assets, business operations and resource management plans. Monitor and assist in development of budgets and work plans, supervise, train and evaluate personnel. Prepare reports and supervise critical area monitoring activities.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:

  • Administer, plan, organize, coordinate and supervise daily district operations involving the landscapes, assets and environmental stewardship activities of Parks. Provide recommendations and advice.
  • Work collaboratively with regulatory officials to develop land management plans for assigned areas throughout the District. Utilizing assigned resources and volunteers, implement approved plans in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Work cooperatively with internal and external partners to ensure efficient operations.
  • Activate and oversee special project crews as directed, plan and coordinate work plan for contracted crews.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, represented and non-represented, through effective utilization of the Employee Performance Evaluation Program; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate employee training programs to provide for opportunity for advancement and to acquire necessary skills.
  • Develop and monitor budget expenditures, revisions, spending plans and revenues for assigned areas. Prepare reports and perform analysis to identify efficiencies and adhere to best management practices.
  • On occasion, act as a project manager where duties include contract compliance, billing and site inspections.
  • Participate in review and comment on capital project plans, including participation in weekly CPG meetings. Participate in other district teams as assigned.
  • Provide planning, leadership, and direction in the development and implementation of short and long range plans, goals, and objectives for the District sustainability and equity initiatives.
  • Operate a motorized vehicle to travel to multiple locations to carry out essential duties. Adhere to all driving laws and safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
  • Periodically act as Manager On Call by fielding complaints and problems from the public and assigning appropriate District resources to solve problems.

  • At least four years of related maintenance and/or facility operations, with at least two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Forestry or related field required. Four additional years of related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays as needed.


HOURS:
This position is anticipated to work as early at 6 a.m. to provide supervision for the team
