JOB OVERVIEW:

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
  • Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to "prep" food products, using standardized food preparation techniques.
  • Skill to use hand tools or machines needed for work. Measure, cut, or otherwise work on
    materials or objects with great precision.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes of items to be prepared.
  • Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a
    clean and sanitary condition in accordance with state, county, and company health regulations
    and work safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding
    temperature in accordance with local food safety standards.
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to show initiative in job performance including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain food handlers certification
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move items up to 100lbs on a continuous schedule.
