JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

The Electric Engineer position will be responsible for electronic design/ development activities. These activities will include designing analog and digital circuits; analyzing proposed designs; conducting tests on printed circuit board assemblies and electronic subassemblies; writing PCB requirement specifications and test procedures; supporting PCB integration into subsystem/system; Design Documentation including design reviews, test reports will be required for all work. Duties will also include working closely with contract manufacturing facilities to provide support during production startup and whenever the need for engineering support arises.

Essential Functions

  • Printed circuit board assembly development activities from concept to industrialization.
  • Wire harness and cable assembly development activities from concept to industrialization
  • Develop necessary test infrastructure for PCBA / Subsystem development testing
  • Support and perform environmental development testing such as vibration, temperature, and EMC on products
  • Experience with reading, interpreting, and following: PCB layouts, engineering drawings, interface diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience with analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, amplifier design, analog filter design
  • Knowledge and experience in microcontroller system design (strong software background is not required; however, a basic understanding of software would be an asset)
  • Knowledge and experience with power supplies (linear and switching) including and understanding of noise and stability
  • An understanding of board layout techniques for digital and analog design
  • An understanding of communications systems and techniques
  • Ability to use laboratory instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills
  • Works well individually and in a team environment
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written).

Experience

2-3 years experience in an Electrical Engineering field with a focus on PCBA Design and Manufacturing.

Education

Bachelors Degree (Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or other similar technical areas of study)

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Watertown, NY is $75,900–$113,900 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents.
