Patient Referral Specialist at Valleywise Health System – Tempe, Arizona

This position is a remote opportunity. Under the direction of the designated Supervisor/Manager, this position is responsible for processing outgoing/external and/or incoming/internal referrals from prior authorization to closing.
Hourly Pay Rate: $17.54 - $25.87 This position can be worked from an approved remote location. Qualifications Education:

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with insurance providers or with patient referral processing that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Prefer prior healthcare or clinic patient registration and or scheduling experience.

Certification/Licensure:

• Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.

• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Requires basic math, data entry, and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute is desired.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
