Duties for This Position

Acts as Surgical Technician for C-Sections only. Assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person handling instruments, supplies and equipment during the C-Section procedure. Assists with maintaining equipment, instruments, and inventory. Opens sterile supplies and sets up table for C-Sections. Provides and maintains sterile field for procedure. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patient for C-Section procedure. Also acts as Unit Secretary for OB Department performing a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care and unit operations.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Completion of C.N.A. Course or graduation from accredited school of Surgical Technology or equivalent experience.

Experience

Experience working as OB Surgical Tech preferred. One year experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Education and training may be provided, and may require paid off-site externships at participating hospitals in Utah County. Clerical experience in healthcare related position is also preferred.

Required Skills

Ability to perform services requiring technical or manual skills. Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities with the rectitude to assert authority in informing operating room staff when there is a breach in the sterile field and take appropriate corrective measures. Requires tact and diplomacy. Requires ability to work in fast pace environment working quickly and efficiently in a demanding environment. Must be able to prioritize and exercise good judgment, as well as, remaining calm during times of crises.
