Job Description
We're seeking a part-time Custodian to work Monday through Friday, 20-hours per week.
- Performs general cleaning tasks such as trash removal, dusting, furniture cleaning, glass cleaning, mirrors, and disinfection.
- Performs various floor cleaning tasks such as dust mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, spot removal from carpets, spray buffing, etc.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, including toilets, sinks, fixtures, walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Replenishes paper products, soap and sanitizer.
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.
- Performs cleaning in offices, conference rooms, classrooms, etc.
- Reports hazardous conditions and facilities in need of repair to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- Clear communication with facilities staff and supervisor.
- Participates in training and quality improvement to promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assists and performs light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing batteries, etc.
- Assist with setup and teardown for events.
- Projects as assigned.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
- Maintain a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
- Perform additional duties as required.
High school diploma or GED preferred but not essential with appropriate experience. One (1) year of experience in custodial /janitorial or housekeeping work. The ability to follow written and oral instructions in English and perform custodial duties without direct supervision. The ability to use a variety of cleaning chemicals in a safe manner, according to manufacturer’s specifications. The ability to operate carpet vacuums, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers and associated cleaning tools and power equipment. The ability to work in environments with extreme temperature and humidity common in Florida. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be a self-starter, who works well in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as a team member. Has the ability to maintain a consistent, dependable, and regular work schedule. Flexibility, multi-tasking, excellent judgment, and follow-through are required. Ability to check email.
Must pass Level II fingerprinting/criminal background check and drug screening.
