About This Position
Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of instruction and management of assigned classes. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling the Metropolitan Community College mission, vision, values, strategic plan, Board of Trustees’ charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal of providing a quality education for all students attending the college.

Positions in this class typically require feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects, equipment, or materials. Duties may include climbing poles and structures, working at heights, maintaining balance, and demonstrating the physical tasks required in utility line work. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions.

Final compensation offer will be determined, based on various factors, such as academic credentials, relevant work and instructional experience.
- Deliver effective instruction - Provide quality instruction, which is reflective of current discipline standards and is accurate, relevant, and engaging using college – approved curriculum and resources
- Assess student learning - Demonstrate reflective practice, including assessment of student learning. This includes ongoing formative assessments, as well as official departmental assessment
- Manage classes and learning environments - Foster a positive classroom-learning environment by presenting information in a way that is inclusive to all learners, including the assurance of section 508 accessibility
- Promote continual improvement as part of the cycle of teaching and learning
- Support learning through student engagement by incorporating pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem-based activities, and other successful teaching strategies into classroom instruction
- Provide student guidance - Help students develop academic habits for college success
- Pursue professional development by staying current in academic field
- Actively participate collegially in department, campus, cross-college, discipline specific, district, and community service activities
- Perform other duties as assigned to provide high-quality learning experience for students, including participating in commencement, attending college functions, etc.
Essential Program Coordinator Duties:
- Provide vision and leadership to disciplines, including but not limited to curriculum decision, assessment, practices and staffing courses.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Journeyman Lineman Certification;
- A combination of formal training such as the completion of an apprenticeship program, and work experience that provide a foundation in the specific subject matter being taught, such as:
- Lineman
- Industrial Technology
- Engineering Technology
- Five (5) years or more industry experience in the Line field.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or collaborating with apprenticeship line workers
- Demonstrated experience with current pedagogical and instructional methods
- Demonstrated experience with utilizing a variety of classroom technologies, both inside and outside the classroom
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and implementing curriculum in electrical linework, with emphasis on aligning instructional content to industry standards and workforce needs.
- Proven ability to deliver OSHA safety training with current “Train the Trainer” certification.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of an inclusive community
- Ability to work well with others
- Strong oral and written communication skills
