About This Position

The City of Highland Village is seeking a dedicated Municipal Court Administrator to lead the daily operations of our Municipal Court. Our Court is committed to upholding justice, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining the integrity of our legal processes for the residents of our vibrant, community-focused city in southern Denton County.

As a Municipal Court Administrator, you would oversee court records, process citations and payments, schedule hearings, manage courtroom documentation, and supervise court staff. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and professional court operations that reflect the values of Highland Village.


The Municipal Court Administrator must have:

  • Associate’s degree in relevant field, paralegal studies, legal administration, or criminal justice.
  • At least three (3) years of municipal court experience.
  • One (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Texas Municipal Courts Level II certification.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Municipal Court and supervise assigned staff including clerks, bailiff, and volunteers
  • Process and maintain accurate records of citations, complaints, dockets, fines, receipts, and case histories
  • Accept payments for fines, fees, and appearance bonds; ensure proper accounting and reconciliation
  • Schedule court hearings and notify defendants, officers, attorneys, and jurors of court appearances
  • Prepare legal documents such as summonses, arrest warrants, subpoenas, and courtesy notices
  • Provide customer service to the public, including answering questions about court procedures and legal documentation
  • Administer oaths and provide authentication for official court documents
  • Correspond with attorneys, defendants, and other agencies regarding case information
  • Compile and submit statistical and regulatory reports to the Judge, Texas Judicial Council, State Comptroller, and others
  • Provide courtroom support and transport case files and appeal documents as needed
  • Manage and maintain the court’s electronic records system and data processing software
  • Purchase and track office and courtroom supplies
  • Deliver in-service training on courtroom procedures to court and police department personnel
  • Coordinate with Magistrates and serve as point of contact in the Judge’s absence
