JOB TITLE: Personal Care Attendant

DEPARTMENT: Home Health

REPORTS TO: Clinical Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

A Personal Care Attendant generally is responsible for light cleaning, cooking, running errands, and doing laundry, as well as assisting clients with bathing, showering, grooming, and other personal hygiene tasks. They also engage clients in activities like reading, talking, and general companionship.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint/background check.
• Valid state driver’s license

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Assist clients with basic hygiene and grooming duties to promote adequate self-care.
• Help clients dress, bathe, eat etc.
• Ensure clients receive their medication on time (medication reminder)
• Do routine housekeeping chores—including various cooking and cleaning duties—that the client is otherwise unable to do themselves.
• Transport clients to appointments, errands, and other necessary off-site locations- when required.
• Provide physical assistance—such as help getting in and out of bed or walking with a walker—to clients when required.
• Maintain detailed records of the client’s activities and report any relevant changes to the supervisor.
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
