Duties for This Position
The Respiratory Therapist works under the direction of the Respiratory Department Manager and is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician orders and departmental policies and procedures. Therapists will set up and monitor mechanical ventilators and perform critical care duties required for treatment, such as, airway management and tracheal suctioning. Properly cleans and stores equipment. Documents all pertinent data in the patient’s medical record. Performs EKG’s treadmill stress tests, newborn hearing screenings, and sets up holter monitors and sends reports to ordering physician. Always treats patients and family members of patients with courtesy, respect, and dignity.
Education Requirements
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy
Licensure / Certification
Must hold a state license or certification to practice respiratory therapy in the state of Utah.
Required Skills
Strong communication skills and independent judgment. Flexibility in demanding environment. Strong computer capabilities. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
