Position Title: Food Program Coordinator | Classification: Union |

Food Program Coordinator – 31 hours per week full-time position, 6 month contract position with the possibility of extension. This is a hybrid position, including regular on-site work as well as some work from home options. This position will fall under the collective agreement between the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of Unions (CSSBA) and Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA). The position will fall under the conditions of employment as a member of the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU).
Overview: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, Located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations.
Job Summary: As part of the Food Programs team, you will support Kiwassa’s vision to grow a welcoming and inclusive community through the provision of agency-wide food services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, plan, deliver, supervise, and evaluate a range of community food programs
- Train and supervise program staff and volunteers
- Maintain health and safety standards; ensure proper handling and storage of food supplies
- Plan nutritious program menus and oversee food purchases and food preparation
- Collaborate with programs at Kiwassa to provide community meals and catering for events
- Develop and facilitate food skills workshops for children, youth adults and families
- Oversee learning garden and provide support to facilitator and volunteers
- Develop and implement fundraising and promotional strategy for growth of program
- Implement the budget, follow financial and administrative procedures and meet obligations of funding contracts, including reporting requirements.
Reporting Relationships
The position reports to the Community Programs Manager.
Qualifications:
- Related post-secondary education in community services field
- Min. 3 years’ experience in community development and / or program coordination
- Knowledge of the local food security movement; Food Safe certification
- Strong abilities in team leadership and staff / volunteer development and supervision
- Experience in facilitating food skills and pre-employment training
- Excellent communication, writing, planning and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community / public partners
- Strong understanding and commitment to community development principles
- Valid driver’s license an asset.
Salary: JJEP Grid Level 14, Step 1: $33.77/per hour
