About the role

  • Assist in the supervision of day-to-day operations of the Safety & Security Department. Reports to the Safety/Security Manager and supports the Social Development Director and Director team in managing, monitoring and holistic supervision of center operations of all shifts. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

What you'll do

  • Assists in the evaluation of staff performance, provides staff training and implements departmental personnel changes as directed.
  • Assist in developing/monitoring staff schedules for 24-hour, 7 day a week coverage.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Center Safety Plan, and Emergency and Disaster Plan (and weather-related Evacuation Plan) and conducting the yearly risk assessment survey.
  • Assists with communications related to safety, security, and fire prevention policies with pertinent center and DOL regulations to students and staff.
  • Assist Manage with the maintenance of departmental records.
  • Ensure rules and procedures regulating the entry, exit, and conduct of persons who seek access to the campus are followed.
  • Schedule and conduct evacuation drills, fire drills, active shooter drills, as required by the PRH.
  • May participate in complaint-related investigations as appropriate.
  • Investigates vehicle accidents involving center vehicles as required
  • Prepares written accident reports and other reports as required.
  • Drafts Significant Incident Reports as required.
  • Provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
  • Provides oversight and support to the Center Safety program.
  • Assist with the Coordination of center transportation and places priorities on student’s transportation.
  • Maintains adequate transportation and general travel services and maintenance of all motor vehicles and equipment.
  • Monitors all center facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA Standards.
  • Participates in interviews and hiring new staff.
  • Participates in the disciplinary process as established on center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
  • Attends in-service training sessions.
  • Conducts PRH required training with center staff.
  • Adheres to all aspects of Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently model appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property; adhere to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • May assist with other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in criminal justice, police science or related field preferred
  • One to three years work-related experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of standard security, fire prevention and safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.


The pay range for this role is:
52,200 - 58,000 USD per year(St. Louis JCC Main)
