Job Description

Associate Director, Facilities Operations & Emergency Management

JOB PURPOSE

Under general direction, provide support to the V.P. of Facilities & Support Services for management of facilities operations, regulatory standards, and compliance. Perform administrative and technical oversight in the implementation and sustainability of the Physical Environment (PE) and Emergency Management (EM) programs, as well as any applicable National Performance Goals (NPG) requirements, with a focus on regulatory compliance and accreditation survey readiness.

Serve in the role as the Committee Chair of the Physical Environment & Emergency Management sub-committee for general administration in planning, coordinating, maintaining, and updating the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network (NRHN) Physical Environment & Emergency Management Operations Plan.

This role establishes a dedicated second-in-command within Facilities Operations while integrating emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance into daily operations. The role strengthens operational continuity, improves emergency response capabilities, and enhances survey readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Emergency Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field is desirable; equivalent professional experience and specialized skills will be strongly considered as an alternative to years of education.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in Healthcare facilities, or in a setting that has transferrable skills & responsibilities (e.g. relevant Military Service or Public Service)
  • Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation is preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Maximum lifting of 60 lbs.
  • Frequent amount of sitting, walking and standing
  • Frequent amount of computer and telephone use
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Strong working knowledge of Healthcare operations
  • Strong working knowledge of Life Safety requirements
  • Familiarity with the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)
  • Ability to lead during high-pressure situations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical terms across diverse populations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong working knowledge of computerized office systems (e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
