Description:

The Childcare Assistant Teacher provides care and learning services to children ages 3 months to 4 years old. Work hours are between 11:30 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Licensing requires online (one hour each) SUIDS, AHT and Pediatric and Adult CPR/AED/First Aid training prior to working at the Child Care. Additional educational training will be required. All required training is paid by the Childcare. This position is a .60 FTE and benefit eligible.

The mission of the Blake Cub House Childcare Program is to provide high quality, affordable child care for children three months to four years old whose parents work at Blake. Requirements:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Director to implement a progressive Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum designed for children ages three months to four years old
  • Monitor and support the physical, cognitive, social and emotional well-being of the children
  • Identify and resolve any safety concerns
  • Design and modify curriculum in response to the children’s interests and needs
  • Maintain an organized, clean and aesthetically pleasing environment
  • Communicate effectively with families
  • Keep current with best practices in early childhood education and MN DHS Childcare licensing rules and requirements

Required:

  • Experience working with children aged three months to four years old
  • Ability to work with children, families and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitments to equity, pluralism, and professional development
  • Collaborative working style
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively monitor and adjust to ever-changing priorities in order to meet children’s needs

Working Conditions:

The work environment will frequently be busy and occasionally noisy, with a number of activities and situations happening at once, requiring the attention and supervision of the children at all times. A portion of each day may be spent outside.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Position involves much lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and pushing. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must be able to get up from and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day. Will need to be able to react quickly to certain situations.
