RN-A - Triage

Position Summary

To provide timely and efficient healthcare support to patients through remote communication channels. Primary responsibility is to assess patient symptoms, provide appropriate medical advice, and determine level of care required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts thorough assessments of patients’ symptoms and medical history via phone and other digital platforms

• Utilizes evidence-based guidelines to make informed decisions about the urgency and severity of patient conditions

• Offers accurate medical advice and recommendations to patients regarding their health concerns

• Educates patients about self-care, medications, and necessary follow-up

• Determines appropriate level of care needed, i.e., clinic visit, urgent care, emergency department

• Maintains detailed and accurate electronic health records of patient interactions, assessments, and recommendations

• Contacts patients post hospital discharge to address patient status and needs, and schedule follow up care with patient’s primary care provider

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program required

• Licensed RN with a minimum 3 years’ patient-facing RN experience at time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred

• All non-BSN RN’s with less than 3 years’ patient-facing RN experience at time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire

• State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the “multistate privilege to practice” compact with Idaho prior to start date

• Demonstrated clinical expertise with the ability to assess, prioritize, and address a wide range of patient symptoms and conditions

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information, provide education, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift and move up to 10 lbs

• Must be able to maintain a sitting position

• Typical equipment used in an office job

• Repetitive movements

• This role may be eligible for partial or full remote work status depending on defined business needs, work assignment, system resources and prior approval
