The Opportunity
This is a key role for a high-performing Project Planner/Scheduler looking to take the lead on a diverse portfolio of capital projects valued up to $50M. As a critical member of the project controls team, you will drive the development of complex schedules and resource structures for a leading energy firm. This position is designed for a self-motivated professional who thrives in an independent environment and is ready to act as a technical resource for the broader project team.
ResponsibilitiesSchedule Development: Utilize Primavera P6 to create, maintain, and analyze comprehensive project schedules for complex assignments with durations of up to two years.
Resource Management: Implement in-depth Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) to effectively resource-load project schedules and track performance.
Project Controls Leadership: Utilize the internal Project Management System to monitor project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and provide actionable conclusions to project leadership.
Process Improvement: Develop, document, and implement new processes and procedures within the project controls functional area to improve service delivery.
Technical Mentorship: Act as a subject matter expert for junior colleagues, directing work on specific tasks and assisting in the preparation of project management training materials.
Collaboration: Participate frequently in internal committees and project team meetings to ensure alignment between scheduling, budgeting, and field execution.
Education: Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Engineering, Construction Management, or Business).
Experience: 4–7 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year specifically dedicated to construction or large-scale project environments.
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and the ability to manage complex WBS/CBS and resource loading.
Performance Track Record: A proven history of high performance in prior roles, with the ability to work independently under minimal guidance.
Problem Solving: Ability to solve complex scheduling issues by taking a fresh perspective on existing solutions.
Certifications: Currently holding a CAPM designation or actively working toward a PMP certification.
Leadership: Experience giving guidance to other planners or leading specific project workstreams.
