About This Position

Summary

The Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) and Audubon Mid-Atlantic (AMA) are partners in The Discovery Center, a public greenspace in East Fairmount Park that is dedicated to supporting the missions of our partners, presenting vibrant environmental education programs, and serving as a resource for residents, especially those in the nearby Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.

The Center Coordinator is focused on supporting rentals of our event space for local community members, and assisting on projects to maintain and improve the grounds: providing a safe and welcoming experience for guests. This position will report to the Facility Operations Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Rentals- 50%

? Serve as an on-site host for events to provide oversight, including set-up and clean-up activities in collaboration with the Facility Operations Manager and other staff ? Work with Facility Operations Manager to respond to some rental inquiries via email and phone call, and meet with potential renters

? Coordinate with the Facility Operations Manager to input rental details into a calendaring system to schedule and avoid conflicts for use of space at The Discovery Center

? Work with the Building and Groundskeeper and Center Assistants to ensure the rental space is adequately cleaned before and after events

Site Maintenance- 40%

? Support the Facility Operations Manager and Building and Groundskeeper to regularly plan and execute grounds maintenance and improvement

? Work on conservation projects throughout the year, including invasive species removal, trail maintenance, mowing, and native tree planting

? Assist in maintaining and keeping inventory of tools and machinery ? Work with the Building and Groundskeeper and other staff to ensure indoor spaces are clean, safe, and ready to use

Visitor Services- 10%

? Staff the Visitor Center, greeting and educating guests on The Discovery Center’s ecology, history, and upcoming programming

Qualifications & Experience

? 1-2 years of work experience in a similar role

? Attention to detail, excellent time-management and organizational skills, sound judgment under pressure, and dedication to high customer service standards ? Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively

? Strong customer service ethic

? Ability to work long, flexible hours when needed, including weekends and evenings ? Skilled with Google Workspace and other online scheduling tools

? Must be able to lift 25+ lbs, operate various tools, machinery and other equipment as necessary; ability to stand and be active for prolonged periods

? Commitment to the mission of The Discovery Center and interest in learning about and supporting the programs of the two partner organizations

Schedule, Hours, & Compensation

? Schedule requires working at least one day per weekend, and at least four nights per month; depending on season and events booked

? $20.25/hr for 40 hours per week

? Overtime eligible

? Eligible for medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance ? Paid time off (vacation and sick time)

? Eligible to participate in Employer Sponsored 403B plan
