POSITION SUMMARY: SUNY Maritime College seeks to hire an IT Infrastructure Administrator who provides primary management and support of the College's servers running Windows Server, Microsoft 365 administration, SMS, SQL Server, ISA Server, VEAM Back Up solutions, Microsoft Azure SSO and Azure MFA, Active Directory, HP Data Protector, VMWare, Crowdstrike, etc., for over 2,000 users connecting from around the world. The IT infrastructure Administrator is responsible for daily cloud and server administration duties, backup/restores, troubleshooting customer issues via email and telephone, meeting the needs for and designing a response to the College's growing infrastructure, provisioning cloud services and on-prem servers, implementing upgrades, working with vendors, and other duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Server, Storage & Network Services

  • Configure, administer, and maintain campus server infrastructure, storage systems, and related hardware/software
  • Research, test, and implement server operating systems, updates, and patches
  • Establish and maintain reliable data backup and recovery solutions through VEAM
  • Monitor system performance and ensure infrastructure meets departmental and campus needs
  • Manage and secure systems through access controls, vulnerability scanning, and security best practices
  • Monitor, log, and respond to Crowdstrike alerts
  • Support data loss prevention and endpoint data protection efforts
  • Serve as backup support for the Computer technicians and Network Engineer

Applications & Systems Support

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, SharePoint, and other enterprise applications
  • Collaborate with campus departments to configure and optimize system capabilities
  • Provide user support and training on Microsoft 365, security fundamentals, and related tools
  • Monitor and analyze system logs across servers, firewall, and security platforms
  • Serve as a campus lead for Active Directory, identity management, Azure SSO, and user account systems

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain clear and up-to-date system documentation and backup procedures
  • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives by identifying and addressing potential risks and provide recommendations to CIO
  • Support continuous improvement through innovation and process enhancements
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including trainings and meetings
  • Provide recommendations and support to the Chief Information Officer on projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Five years' experience in related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Microsoft Windows and Windows Server 2022 or better
  • Certification in Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Certification in VMware VCP-DCV
  • Enterprise Products including Exchange, Windows Server Enterprise, WAN/LAN Technologies, VEAM, MS SQL
  • Ideal candidate would also have some experience with SQL servers


Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The IT Infrastructure Administrator is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range is $110,000 - $125,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance.pdf). Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
