As a Sales Associate / Cashier at Duck Stop Travel Center, you’re the friendly face and reliable resource that keeps our customers coming back. You’ll provide exceptional customer service, handle cash and transactions accurately, and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for every guest who walks through our doors. Whether ringing up purchases, restocking shelves, or ensuring safety and cleanliness, you’ll play an essential role in keeping operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet every customer warmly and assist with purchases or inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
• Build positive relationships with guests, anticipating their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
• Promote store loyalty programs, special promotions, and in-store offerings.
• Handle customer concerns or complaints courteously and escalate to management when necessary.

Cashiering & Transactions

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for cash, credit, and debit transactions.
• Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, maintaining accuracy and integrity.
• Verify IDs for age-restricted purchases (tobacco, alcohol, lottery).
• Follow company policies for refunds, voids, and special transactions.
• Ensure compliance with all Duck Stop safety and cash-handling procedures.

Store Operations

• Keep checkout counters, merchandise displays, and common areas neat, clean, and stocked.
• Replenish items in high-traffic areas such as coolers, snacks, and beverage stations.
• Assist in restocking deliveries and rotating inventory to maintain freshness.
• Support daily store opening and closing tasks, including cleaning, trash removal, and equipment checks.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations for sales and operations.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly to management.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient operations.
• Communicate effectively during shift handoffs.
• Support teammates in achieving store goals and maintaining a positive environment.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications but not Required

• Previous gas/fuel retail, cash-handling, or customer service experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic math and computer/POS skills
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
