About This Position
Overview
Responsibilities
High School Diploma,Active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License AND 2 years of pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education; AND Certification from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Health-career Association. Certification must be maintained. Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
- Prepare, mix and compound sterile medications, including chemotherapy, following aseptic procedure guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of USP ISO 5, 7, and 8 areas through daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning
- Prepare and package medication and supplies for patient deliveries.
- Organize and restock work areas during and prior to end of shift, and remove expired medication
- Coordinate patient care by answering telephone, filing, medication profile update and maintenance.
- Perform other technician duties as assigned
Responsibilities
High School Diploma,
- Ability to read and understand medical-related terms.
- Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations.
- Skill at manipulating small objects, e.g., needles, syringes, ampules.
- Ability to use mechanical system for transfer of fluids.
- Knowledge of and skill at application of aseptic technique.
- Ability to establish priorities in workflow.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
- Formal pharmacy technician training program
- Inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience
- Medical and scientific nomenclature
