About This Position

Under the direction of the Dean of Academic Support, the eLearning Support and Design Specialist develops and designs instructional materials and also assists in the e-learning design of courses. Assist faculty in learning about, becoming proficient in, and applying instructional technology for e-learning. Support the planning, designing, and developing of effective e-learning experiences. This position actively collaborates with individual faculty, programs, and departments to promote the pedagogical design of digital and innovative teaching and eLearning needs.

  • Serve as a primary technical support provider to faculty and students using the college Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Provide timely and effective assistance to students individually, hosting the student help desk each semester and utilizing the Help Ticket system.
  • Manage faculty resource website to ensure up-to-date, meaningful, and robust self-help materials are available.
  • Manage and control eLearning related equipment and software.
  • Create and manage professional development to assist faculty with implementing educational technologies, tools, and adhering to required procedures.
  • Assist and train faculty to develop distance learning courses that are dynamic, pedagogically-sound, and technologically-appropriate.
  • Assist faculty to create/revise course materials that are ADA compliant.
  • Co-lead the online and hybrid course review process with the eLearning Instructional design and data specialist.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging learning technologies.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to new ideas, methods and processes related to e-Learning.
  • Manage and implement orientation and training for faculty new to the online learning environment.
  • Assist the eLearning Team with other daily functions as needed.


Required education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s in computer related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Learning Management System experience
  • Interpersonal/collaboration skills
  • Project management skills enabling independent work
  • Time management skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization and oral/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public
  • Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain, demonstrate, facilitate and model the essential functions of the job to ensure quality program service
  • Possess the ability to think “outside the box” and to lead/manage change in a positive manner
  • Identify and resolve ethical and legal implications of design in courses

Preferred education and experience:
Master’s in computer related discipline preferred.
