Energy & Utility Consulting Manager -- Renewables

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Energy & Utility Consulting Manager -- Renewables based in the United States.

This is a senior, client-facing consulting role focused on helping energy-sector organizations navigate the transition toward cleaner, more resilient power systems.
You will lead multidisciplinary engagements spanning renewable generation, utility planning, grid modernization, and emerging energy infrastructure.
The role combines strategic advisory work with rigorous technical, financial, economic, and operational analysis.
You will work directly with utilities, developers, investors, independent power producers, lenders, and other industry stakeholders.
As a project leader, you will translate complex findings into practical recommendations and executive-ready deliverables.
You will also mentor consultants and technical professionals while contributing to business development and long-term client relationships.
The position is fully remote and offers broad exposure to high-impact energy and infrastructure projects across the United States.

Accountabilities
  • Lead strategic consulting engagements involving market, technology, policy, utility planning, renewable generation, grid modernization, and energy infrastructure assessments.
  • Direct project economic and cost analyses, risk assessments, contracting strategies, and other quantitative evaluations supporting client investment and operational decisions.
  • Manage technical due diligence and owner’s engineering reviews for power and energy projects, including the review of technical reports, studies, and engineering deliverables.
  • Provide program and project management support, helping clients strengthen governance, business processes, controls, stakeholder alignment, and execution strategies.
  • Develop conceptual plans in collaboration with technical engineering teams to address client requirements and project objectives.
  • Prepare and present implementation strategies, project plans, recommendations, and findings to executives, project teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical, financial, and analytical findings into clear written reports, presentations, Excel models, and other client-ready deliverables.
  • Lead individual workstreams within larger engagements while coordinating timelines, scope, resources, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Guide junior consultants and engineers by providing technical direction, managing workloads and hours, reviewing work products, and ensuring delivery against project expectations.
  • Mentor and develop team members by sharing industry expertise, consulting practices, analytical approaches, and technical knowledge.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal development, client relationship management, opportunity identification, and presentations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with utilities, developers, investors, lenders, legal advisors, grid operators, and other energy-sector stakeholders throughout project execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or another relevant engineering discipline; degrees in Finance or Economics may also be considered.
  • 15 or more years of professional experience within the power and energy industry.
  • Broad technical knowledge across multiple power generation technologies, including renewable and conventional generation.
  • Previous management consulting or advisory experience gained within a consulting firm, advisory practice, engineering organization, or energy company, including direct client engagement and ownership of analytical deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electric or gas utilities, independent power producers, project developers, grid operators, energy investors, or comparable industry organizations.
  • Proven experience leading teams of engineers, consultants, or other multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience working with quantitative models, large datasets, financial analysis, and economic evaluations.
  • Excellent ability to create clear, structured, and executive-ready Excel models, PowerPoint presentations, written reports, and other client deliverables.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence leading client meetings, workshops, executive discussions, and project presentations.
  • Ability to translate technical and quantitative information into practical recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and deliverables in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • High level of initiative, ownership, accountability, and independent judgment, with a consistent record of producing high-quality work with limited supervision.
  • Experience with technical due diligence and owner’s engineering reviews of power projects is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations and performance, including operational and financial drivers, is advantageous.
  • Understanding of electric utility business models, planning processes, and operations is preferred.
  • Experience with economic evaluation, cost analysis, and energy contracts such as PPAs, EPC agreements, and O&M agreements is a plus.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
