About the Role:
Strathmore is looking for a Quality Control Manager to define, implement, and maintain our landscape quality standards across the organization.
A key initial responsibility will be to develop and implement the Strathmore Landscape & Horticulture Quality Playbook, establishing clear, practical, and consistent standards for field execution, visual quality, audits, corrective actions, and training across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Strathmore Landscape & Horticulture Quality Playbook.
- Create clear visual field standards and reference guides that illustrate Strathmore’s quality expectations and required level of execution.
- Build and manage the Quality Audit Checklist and scoring system.
- Conduct regular property inspections and quality audits.
- Identify at-risk properties and support corrective action and recovery plans.
- Analyze recurring quality issues and identify root causes.
- Coach field teams on quality expectations and proper execution.
- Support the development of the Strathmore Academy, with training programs adapted to different levels of field responsibility.
- Develop practical training materials, field demonstrations, visual standards, and assessments.
- Provide on-the-job field training and coaching during live operations, working directly with Crew Members, Crew Leaders, and Supervisors to demonstrate quality standards, correct execution methods, and reinforce expectations in real working conditions.
- Track quality trends and report results to operational leadership.
- Serve as Point of Contact for all branches when specific horticulture/landscape-related questions cannot be solved at the branch level
- Work closely with Branch Managers and Operations teams to continuously improve field execution, service consistency, and overall property presentation.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial landscaping, horticulture, in a related field or a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture.
- Strong knowledge of mowing, trimming, edging, weed management, mulching, shrub pruning, hedge trimming, and overall site presentation.
- Strong knowledge of plants, diseases and pest control
- Strong eye for detail and ability to recognize quality deficiencies quickly.
- Experience in field leadership, supervision, quality control, or operations.
- Strong coaching, training, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop practical standards, checklists, and training materials.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Comfortable working in the field and travelling between properties.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel 4-8 days per month.
- Bilingual, able to train employees in Quebec and Ontario locations
