You will lead cross-functional engineering, production, procurement and QC teams to investigate product failures, machining deviations, and material defects. Responsibilities
- Program implementation: Develop a robust process for CAPA resolution to be implemented in the 3 North American plant.
- Planning and prioritizing: Based on the criticality of problems, and internal customer’s needs, plan and track the issues to solve
- Defect Investigation: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for valve assembly failures, pressure test leaks, and machining non-conformances using 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA.
- Action Plan Development: Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement to design corrective actions for welding, machining, assembly, and performance testing
- Effectiveness Verification: Develop and execute testing protocols to verify that process changes permanently eliminate design or manufacturing defects.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure CAPA records align with industrial valve standards including ASME (Section III, B16.34), and ISO 9001.
- Supplier Quality CAPA: In cooperation with the Manager, Supplier Quality, support the efforts to improve supplier’s performance. Issue and manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) for raw material, forging, or casting defects originating from external vendors.
- KPI Management: Track quality metrics (e.g., Scrap Rate, First Pass Yield, Cost of Non-Quality) and present CAPA health reports to site leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of quality engineering experience in heavy manufacturing, ideally involving valves, pumps, pressure vessels, or rotating equipment.
- Management: 3+ years in managing a team of quality specialists
- Process implementation: Proven experience in implementation of CAPA process
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing practices
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is highly desirable.
- Bilingual: French and English (Oral and written)
- Ability to work under pressure and time management skills
