Position Summary:
The mission of the Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) is to improve the health and healthcare of the people of New Mexico and their communities through education, research, patient care, service, population health interventions and health policy development.
Family and Community Medicine seeks an HR Tech to manage, to coordinate, and to administer the day-to-day credentialing and privileging activities for physicians, associate clinical staff and network practitioners. The individual will also serve as the Department liaison with the Health Sciences Clinical Affairs Provider Credentialing Office and provide data. Previous credentialing experience is a plus but not required. We seek a dynamic, highly organized individual who is interested in learning new systems and processes and can work independently but also take direction and work as a team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a professional and positive attitude and communicate effectively with others.
The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills that will be utilized for a high volume of email and telephone communications with providers and other departments. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment is essential. Must be able to independently handle a workload that may be heavy at times and with competing priorities and deadlines. Must be highly organized with excellent time management skills and have the ability to track and follow up on all credentialing and privileging packets for the Department to include maintaining the quality and accuracy of all medical staff and associate clinical staff credentialing and privileging data. The ability to compose memos and emails and to perform business math calculations on one's own is important. Must have the ability to routinely create word documents and excel worksheets to organize, analyze and present data. The ability to create and maintain credentialing and privileging file system, both electronic and paper, is essential.

- Skill in use of personal computers and related software application (i.e. Word, Excel, Smartsheet, ADOBE and Tableau)
- Ability to interpret and analyze informational needs and provide technical advice and guidance in area of specialty.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Reviews and screens initial medical staff credentialing applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards.
- Interprets federal, state, local, and government/insurance agency regulations and guidelines, as well as University Medical Staff Affairs policies for client faculty and staff.
- Advises providers, management, and administrators on compliance issues as appropriate.
- Interfaces with providers and students, client departments, internal agencies, and all related external health care agencies on day-to-day credentialing and privileging issues as they arise.
- Maintains files to ensure that they are up to date, complete, and accurate; reviews all file documentation for compliance with quality standards, accreditation requirements, and all other relevant policies; prepares and provides information to internal agencies as appropriate.
- Provides a range of administrative and/or office managerial support to the Sr. Med Practice Specialist and unit, as appropriate to the position.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
