Position Summary
The Gold Appraisal Specialist is responsible for the accurate valuation, testing,
documentation, and intake of gold assets within a structured gold purchasing platform.
This role operates in a non-retail environment focused exclusively on gold procurement, not jewelry resale. The position plays a critical role in protecting company margins through precise karat verification, weight calculations, payout accuracy, refinery yield understanding, and disciplined documentation. As the company scales, this role supports standardized operational controls and ensures valuation consistency across
expanding locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate gold valuation using XRF and/or acid testing methods
- Verify karat purity and identify non-gold or mixed-metal components
- Perform precise weight measurements and payout calculations based on live gold pricing
- Apply refinery yield knowledge to estimate melt value and recovery outcomes
- Execute scrap gold purchasing in alignment with internal pricing models
- Maintain strict chain-of-custody documentation from intake through transfer
- Record and reconcile all transactions in accordance with company policy
- Identify discrepancies, irregularities, or valuation risks
- Support internal audits and reconciliation processes
- Contribute to the development and refinement of standardized valuation procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of experience in finance roles, particularly in financial analysis
- Strong skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The pay range for this role is:
60,000 - 65,000 USD per year(St. Petersburg FL)
