This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Manager - FX/Cross Border Payments based in Canada.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven professional to grow new business within the international payments and foreign exchange space.
You will build and manage a pipeline of corporate prospects, helping businesses address complex cross-border payment and hedging needs.
The role combines consultative B2B selling, financial expertise, relationship building, and proactive business development.
You will engage decision-makers ranging from business owners and directors to senior finance leaders and C-suite executives.
Using modern sales tools and multiple prospecting channels, you will own opportunities through the sales cycle and into client onboarding.

- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective corporate clients for B2B payment and foreign exchange solutions, identifying organizations with international payment, risk management, or hedging requirements.
- Drive new business revenue and consistently achieve agreed KPIs and targets, providing regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates.
- Proactively generate opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, networking events, referrals, exhibitions, partnerships, and other business development channels.
- Use sales and prospecting platforms such as Salesforce, Highspot, and ZoomInfo to research prospects, generate leads, manage activities, and advance opportunities.
- Own the sales cycle from initial prospecting and qualification through commercial negotiations and client onboarding before transitioning relationships to the account management team.
- Consult with prospects to understand their international payment and hedging requirements and recommend relevant solutions across payments, FX, and risk management.
- Build relationships and influence stakeholders at different levels, from start-up founders and business owners through to directors, finance leaders, and C-suite executives.
- Introduce prospects to relevant internal specialists and support functions, ensuring clients receive the appropriate expertise throughout the sales process.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including sales activity, prospect status, next steps, and opportunity information.
- Conduct market analysis, monitor industry developments, and participate in relevant events to identify emerging opportunities and strengthen market knowledge.
- 2–5+ years of experience in financial services, ideally within foreign exchange, international payments, commercial payments, or a related financial technology environment.
- Practical understanding of financial markets and instruments, including spot transactions, forwards, derivatives, FX, payments, risk management, and/or hedging solutions.
- Proven B2B sales experience with a track record of acquiring new customers and achieving or exceeding revenue and performance targets.
- Experience with consultative selling, corporate negotiations, prospecting, networking events, trade fairs, cold calling, and other proactive business development activities.
- Strong understanding of international and bulk payment processing, accounting systems, payment technologies, and platform integrations.
- Financially astute, commercially minded, and comfortable translating complex financial or payment concepts into clear business value for customers.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English, as English is the primary language used for internal communication.
- Familiarity with CRM and sales enablement tools is an advantage, particularly experience working with Salesforce or similar platforms.
- Competitive annual compensation of CAD $100,000–$130,000.
