The RMA Specialist supports the 24/7 operations of our data centers with a focus on hardware lifecycle management, including setup, testing, diagnostics, repair coordination, and RMA processing. This role ensures that all physical infrastructure; servers, storage devices, and network equipment, operates reliably and meets quality standards.

Pay Range: $32 - 36 /hr
What you'll do- Perform hardware setup, testing, and validation prior to deployment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Diagnose, document, and escalate recurring or complex hardware failures.
- Coordinate RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) requests, including vendor communication, part returns, and tracking replacements.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware components, replacements, and RMA status.
- Support the installation, racking, and cabling of servers, switches, and related infrastructure.
- Execute data destruction procedures for reclaimed or decommissioned devices in accordance with security policies.
- Assist in performing hardware audits and maintaining asset documentation in internal tracking systems.
- Monitor alerts, tickets, and chat queues; provide timely response and escalate issues as needed.
- Perform firmware and BIOS updates on servers and other hardware platforms.
- Install and configure operating systems using standard images and base configurations.
- Support planned maintenance and infrastructure upgrade projects under guidance from senior staff.
- Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and update technical documentation.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required (location dependent).
- Provide courteous and effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers.
- 3+ years of experience in data center operations, hardware support, or system build environments.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in IT, electronics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture and diagnostic procedures.
- Familiarity with RAID, BIOS/firmware updates, and common hardware troubleshooting tools.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
- Basic networking fundamentals (switching, cabling, IP configuration).
- Experience coordinating or managing RMAs with vendors or manufacturers.
- Strong documentation, organization, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to perform detailed testing and maintain quality assurance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
