This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect based in the United States.
This is a high-impact architecture leadership role focused on shaping enterprise-scale digital, cloud, application, integration, and data ecosystems. You will partner directly with clients and executive stakeholders to translate complex business needs into scalable technology strategies. The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on technical leadership across multiple development teams and workstreams. You will define current, transition, and future-state architectures while guiding implementation and delivery decisions. As a trusted advisor, you will influence technology direction, manage architectural risks, and help organizations modernize their platforms. The position also offers opportunities to mentor technical leaders and contribute to reusable architecture standards and practices. A strong consulting mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges are essential.
- Partner with clients and executive stakeholders to make strategic technology decisions that support business outcomes, platform direction, and long-term solution viability.
- Define current-state, transition-state, and future-state enterprise architectures across digital, cloud, application, integration, and data environments.
- Own the integrity of technical designs, architecture decisions, delivery patterns, and solution approaches across enterprise-scale initiatives.
- Provide architectural direction to development teams, ensuring implementation aligns with approved architecture, delivery standards, and client objectives.
- Lead estimation activities for complex initiatives, documenting scope, assumptions, risks, dependencies, effort, and delivery timelines.
- Translate architectural decisions into actionable backlogs, including epics, features, user stories, and technical work items.
- Advise clients on architecture best practices related to scalability, resiliency, security, maintainability, performance, and operational readiness.
- Apply expertise across cloud platforms, integration patterns, middleware, application architecture, design patterns, and enterprise technology practices.
- Audit existing architectures and ecosystems to identify gaps, technical debt, risks, modernization opportunities, and delivery challenges.
- Define and govern modern API strategies, including specifications, authentication, authorization, versioning, lifecycle management, and API governance.
- Identify architectural risks and delivery gaps early, providing practical recommendations and escalation support where necessary.
- Mentor architects, technical leads, and senior developers to strengthen technical decision-making, architecture quality, and delivery effectiveness.
- Build trusted relationships across client stakeholders, engineering teams, delivery organizations, and internal leadership.
- Contribute to architecture governance, standards, reusable patterns, accelerators, and delivery practices that improve consistency across engagements.
- Leverage AI tools and emerging AI-enabled development workflows to accelerate architecture, documentation, analysis, solution design, and engineering delivery.
- 10+ years of enterprise-scale software design and implementation experience, with proven experience as a Senior Enterprise Architect, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent architecture leadership role.
- Deep expertise in at least two technical disciplines such as cloud computing, cloud-native architecture, application development, integration architecture, middleware, data architecture, or enterprise platforms.
- Proven hands-on expertise with Azure or AWS; experience with both is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns including Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, N-Tier Architecture, API-first design, and composable architecture.
- Experience designing and documenting enterprise architectures, system contexts, data flows, integrations, middleware, and cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern API design, API governance, authentication, authorization, versioning, lifecycle management, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Experience with technologies and patterns such as SQL, message queues or Service Bus, caching, ESB, ETL, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented and software design principles, as well as architecture quality attributes including scalability, resiliency, security, maintainability, and performance.
- Experience leading architects, technical leads, developers, and distributed or outsourced engineering teams through complex technical decisions.
- Excellent project planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, competing priorities, estimates, and delivery timelines.
- Exceptional executive-level communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to assess tradeoffs, identify risks, and recommend pragmatic solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear architecture documentation, technical narratives, recommendations, and client-facing deliverables.
- A growth mindset and ability to adapt quickly, incorporate feedback, and continuously improve technical and delivery practices.
- Experience in consulting, professional services, digital agencies, or other client-facing technology leadership environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI tools, models, and AI-assisted software development workflows, including architecture design, code generation, documentation, estimation, and analysis.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects, public repositories, architecture accelerators, reusable frameworks, or internal engineering standards is a plus.
- A work sample containing architectural documentation is required.
- Base salary: $170,000–$185,000 USD.
